iOS 14.4 contains a new anti-independent repair message

The latest version of iOS, 14.4 is now available as a stable update. Its installation may cause the “important hardware message” notification to appear if the iPhone detects the rear camera module has been replaced “unofficially”.

This update issues a warning if repairs are “unverified” even if the spare parts used are original Apple parts. The message related to this hardware issue is related to the replacement parts message such as display and battery previously included in iOS.

Therefore, in order to remove the notice, users are advised to carry out the repairs with Apple. In addition, the iOS 14.4 update has successfully overcome an issue in which not being able to use portrait and panorama modes after the rear camera module has been replaced.

The findings of these issues have been reported by a device refurbishment YouTuber, Hugh Jeffreys through the latest video he shared.

In addition to the issues mentioned earlier, this software update also provides patches for potential vulnerabilities. Among those intended are CVE-2021-1782, CVE-2021-1871, and CVE-2021-1870 which are reported workable on iPad and iPhone.

Apple advises users to immediately update to iOS 14.4. Otherwise, it may affect the usability whereas the Fitness widget does not display the latest activity.
