According to a recent report from Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the upcoming iPhone 15 will support the Wi-Fi 6E standard. This news aligns with similar claims made by Barclays analysts Blayne Curtis and Tom O’Malley in their latest research note.
The Wi-Fi 6E standard uses the 6GHz band, which allows for faster speeds, more bandwidth, lower latency, and less signal interference. However, it should be noted that a Wi-Fi 6E router would be needed to take advantage of this feature on the iPhone 15.
Kuo also stated that the tech giant has halted development of its in-house Wi-Fi chip. If this is true, it would mean that Broadcom will continue to supply Wi-Fi chips for the iPhone 15 series and beyond. This information is separate from a previous report by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who stated that Apple is working on a combined Wi-Fi and Bluetooth chip to replace Broadcom parts by 2025.
In addition to the Wi-Fi 6E support, other rumors about the upcoming iPhone 15 include taptic buttons, a titanium frame, increased RAM, and possibly running on the A17 Bionic chip based on 3nm technology. It’s also speculated that the iPhone 15 could be the first iPhone with a USB-C port, but it’s also possible that this feature could be pushed to future models.
It’s important to note that these rumors should be taken with a grain of salt, as Apple has not yet officially announced any details about the iPhone 15. However, it’s clear that the company is looking to adopt the latest wireless technology in its products in line with its recent products.
