Among my favorite movies is the Men In Black franchise, because in this movie they have a lot of interesting gadgets that can do incredible things. Among my favorite gadgets is the Neuralyzer, wherewith this gadget the light will come on when pressed and the memory can be removed and manipulated with new memory.
Most recently at Kyoto University, Japan they have conducted a study to relax newly created synapses. That is the connection of neurons that create the memory. They performed this experiment on rats, where these rats had a memory and knew if they entered a dark room they would be subjected to an electric shock. But with this experiment, the rat’s memory was successfully erased and it would enter the dark space earlier without any feeling.
This is made possible by marine anomalous proteins that produce oxygen atom destroyers when exposed to light. This protein was given to these mice through an injection of a harmless virus while they slept. Instead of damaging this synaptic connection process, the virus will “rest” it so that memory cannot be created.
Optical fiber wires were also inserted into the brains of mice to be exposed to light. After it enters again into the darkroom where there is an electric shock, the memory that told this room of danger and pain will be erased and when this rat passes again it will have no fear.
Experiments with sensitivity to light are also called optogenet ik. But the experimental results found that after 25 days this memory will remain and can no longer be manipulated. The purpose of this experiment was to prove that long-term memory can be stopped or changed to its original point before new memory is created.
In the future, with these experiments, those with PTSD or mental trauma can be recovered. Just for now, it is still in its early stages and limited to mice only.
