Apple is the first company to offer virtual assistants to consumers. Through Siri the user can interact with the phone via voice control only. However, 8 years after launch, Siri is now lagging behind in comparison to Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa.
To minimize the gap, Apple has acquired machine learning Start-up Inductiv Inc, as reported by Bloomberg. The firm will make improvements to Siri, machine learning and data science for Apple. The value paid by Apple to acquire Inductive Inc has not been announced.
One of the major problems with the Siri is Apple does not use user data extensively to train their virtual assistants. Google and Amazon doesn’t have this problem and this is reflected in their virtual assistants abilities to better understand instructions and context.
Maybe, in the near future Siri will be able to compete and return as the best virtual assistants on the market.
