Xiaomi is suing the United States government and demanding to be removed from the blacklist of investments made by former President Donald Trump.
Through the court filing that has been made, Xiaomi asserted that it had nothing to do with the Chinese military. In addition, Xiaomi says the blacklist made is wrong and illegal.
Three of Xiaomi’s ten largest shareholders are US investment institutions namely BlackRock Inc., The Vanguard Group, and State Street Corporation. In addition, many individuals from the US are shareholders.
The blacklist also according to Xiaomi violates the US Constitution regarding the right to freedom and property. At the time of listing, Xiaomi did not receive any prior notice from the Trump administration regarding the restrictions.
Xiaomi has been blacklisted since January 14 this year for being linked to China’s military and security bodies.
